Dr. Kathleen Paulson – Veterinarian
Dr. Kathleen Paulson has been practicing veterinary medicine for 10 years. She graduated from Washington State University with her BA in Animal Science (’03) and DVM (’07). Those years gave her a fierce “Cougar Pride”, a husband, cat, and two dogs. Since that time there have been some hard losses and some joyful gains. Dr. Paulson and her husband currently have four dogs and two cats. As a veterinarian Dr. Kathleen Paulson loves working with all breeds, makes, and models of companion animals but she has a special place in her heart for greyhounds and kitties with strong personality. Go Cougs!!!

Dr. Ngoc Tran – Veterinarian
Dr. Ngoc Tran grew up in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington with degrees in Psychology and Biology. After working in infectious disease research for a couple years, she then attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation, she was eager to return home to the familiar rain and temperate weather of Seattle.
Dr. Tran’s special interests include preventative care, internal medicine, and palliative care. In her spare time, Dr. Tran enjoys spending time with her two rambunctious kitties, Monday and Bristol. Together, they play the risky game of rubbing cat bellies, and enjoy reading and baking.

Courtney Vogel – Office Manager
Courtney has been in the veterinary field since 2009 as a veterinary assistant. Her experience with her own dog having medical issues is what propelled her into the field. Courtney’s favorite part about working in veterinary medicine is being an advocate for her patients and giving them a voice. In her spare time Courtney enjoys going for hikes, fishing with her dad, Seahawk Sundays, and hanging out with her own large dog crew Racer, Sage, and Elbe.
Hayley Taylor – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Hayley is an LVT who relocated to the PNW from Michigan. She graduated with her degree in Veterinary Technology in 2012 from Baker College in Flint, MI and moved to Seattle in August of 2016. Hayley has 3 cats (Isabelle, Peanut and Helen), a Great Dane named Seymour and a terrier mix named Lucy. In her spare time, Hayley enjoys being outside, crocheting and spending time with her husband and fur-babies!
Sandy Hull – Receptionist
Sandy joined the Cascade Heights crew in October 2016. After over 30 years of active employment her lifelong dream of working in a veterinary clinic has come true!
Sandy loves spending time with her two grown daughters when possible, her two furry feline kids Bear and Luke. If you ask her what her favorite things are you will likely hear her say, “I love Disney, Christmas, and anything that involves either of them!” She also enjoys working out, running, being outdoors, and of course cheering on our Seahawks!!
Ellen Harris – Veterinary Assistant
Ellen joined Cascade Heights in September and is thrilled to be working with animals every day! She grew up in a house full of dogs, hamsters, horses, guinea pigs, and even a few fish. Before working at Cascade Heights, she spent time at a wildlife rescue center in Ecuador and at the Oakland Zoo in California. After finishing school in Los Angeles, she moved back home to Seattle and started in the small animal field, where she loves getting to interact with people’s pets everyday! Ellen is hoping to become a vet one day, but for now, she enjoys hiking, skiing, and cuddling with her two wonderful dogs at home, Zoe and Lucy.
Jessica Nelson – On Sabbatical at EWU
Jessica joined the Cascade Heights team in July of 2016 as her very first job! She has always loved working with animals so we recruited her one day when she brought her cat in. Jessica now goes to Eastern Washington University and we cannot be more proud of her! Jessica’s work hours have obviously been cut back a little with the commute, but we hope to see her during her breaks and over summer. Mac and Ollie are her two favorite kitties at home, but CJ is a close third!
CJ – Because every veterinary clinic needs a Purrceptionist!
CJ joined the Cascade Heights team September 2016. He was brought in by a good Samaritan after they found him cold, alone, and covered in fleas on a rainy night. CJ is working on his reception and assistant skills in exchange for room and board. CJ prides himself on giving hugs, being the resident bug catcher, manning the phones when his co-workers are busy, and is the head of security when the clinic is closed. In his free time CJ likes to play fetch, takes long walks on the beach, is a connoisseur of all things edible, and is a “muffin maker” extraordinaire. Swing in to say hi!
